Have you ever been given an amazing gift or been the recipient of an amazingly kind gesture? Yet, deep inside you were skeptical of the giver’s motivation? Maybe you wondered if there was an ulterior motive? Maybe you wondered why they choose to give you something so extravagant?
If we’re honest, it can be deceivingly easy to feel that way about the gift Jesus offered us on the cross. It just seems too good to be true. A quiet voice whispers to our vulnerable soul, “That can’t be enough to...

Have you ever felt like a fake? If you said yes, I can emphatically say, me too. In fact, I felt this way more than I even realized — until recently.
About three months ago I was on a walk. The gift of the gorgeous day was a bit lost on me as I murmured grumbled prayers over a series of physical injuries that were plaguing me. I felt as though every form of exercise, even walking sometimes, was being taken from me. I simply couldn’t understand why the Lord seemed to be stripping away every...

In a world of smart phones, social media, and the internet we have so many things pulling for our time and attention on a daily basis. Although technology has it's benefits, the pressure that comes with "being available all of the time" as well as the pressure of living up to certain standards and comparisons that are constantly in front of our eyes can pull us in so many different directions, and away from the things that truly matter. I am convinced that the life God intended us to live can...

As I read the story of Jesus’s birth this morning I was reminded of just how much of the Christmas season revolves around hope and waiting expectantly. We all know the story of how Mary was told by an angel she would become pregnant with the Savior of the world, and how she and Joseph had to wait what must have seemed like 9 of the longest months awaiting his birth...as well as all of the obstacles they endured shortly after His birth; But often times we forget how many faithful men and women...

“Joy to the world.”
“It’s the most wonderful time of the year.”
“Have yourself a Merry little Christmas, and let your heart be light!”

Despite your best intentions and aspirations, do "joyful" and "jolly" feel a bit out of reach? If so, you’re not alone. In fact, I’ve really been spending time with...

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
As the winter turns to spring around us, I am reminded in such a powerful way of how the Lord takes what was once dead and breaths His life into it, making it new.
Good Friday & Easter are special reminders of God’s amazing ability to take what was once dead and bring it back to life. As we reflect on the true meaning of these days, we remember how He took Jesus, who was dead for...

The word "peace" is found all throughout the bible. Specifically, there are two times where the word peace is applied to an action that we must take, which is to seek it and pursue it, (Psalms 34:14 and 1 Peter 3:11). Understanding and practicing the pursuit of peace is something that I have felt the Lord calling me to work on and study more. I tend to lean toward a racing, anxious mind which makes it very difficult to maintain peace.
There are so many different ways that we can actively seek...
