When my daughter Maddie turned three years old we started to desire another baby. Because of our journey with Maddie, we knew our journey may take some time. Month after month passed, and before we knew it, we were celebrating Maddie fourth birthday. When she blew out the candles at her birthday party, she wished for a baby sister. Just about a week later, Maddie told me that there was a baby in my tummy, and when I asked how she knew, she replied, “God told me!” About one week later, I found...

Today's post is a bit of an open letter in the name of encouragement, after a spiritually dry season that occurred shortly after a big move from one state to another. I pray it encourages you if you are experiencing a wilderness season in your walk with God! - Sarah Shaffer
"This isn't home anymore." Driving by myself, those unexpected words came from my lips two years ago. They startled and saddened me. I was a native of my home state. I had two kids comfortably enmeshed in their normal...

I never dreamed I’d be sharing this type of news. In fact, just a few short weeks ago, I was overjoyed and couldn’t wait to share one of the best kept secrets we’ve ever kept…
I should be sharing with the world the exciting news that we are expecting our second miracle baby, but instead we are saying "goodbye on this earth" to our second child.
I should be 12 weeks pregnant this week, and starting to pull out my maternity clothes soon; But instead I’m tucking away the "We are Expecting"...

It is National Eating Disorder Awareness week! I share my testimony every chance I can to shine Gods truth and light in the midst of darkness. As many of you may know, I struggled with eating disorders in my teen years; But I also want to point out that “eating disorders” are not only limited to anorexia and bulimia. I can say from experience that there are many forms of disordered eating, all of which steals the health our bodies, and robs us from the life that God designed for us. When it...

My name is Carissa and this is a photo of me and my daughter Grace. Years ago my doctor did my blood work and said I was pre-diabetic. When I was pregnant I failed my glucose test and I was put on the gestational diabetic diet for the rest of my pregnancy. As soon as I had my daughter, I started eating anything and everything again, and went for easy things like pizza or cereal due the stress of motherhood, hormones and breast feeding hunger. I had an all or nothing approach with food, and I...

It was the summer of 1998. I was fourteen years old when my dad came to my two sisters and I and informed us that we would be moving from the only home we have ever known in suburban Michigan to a small town in Wisconsin. My dad worked as an administrator for a small health care agency which was experiencing layoffs, forcing him to find a new job. This kind of news would be shocking to any family, much less when you are a shy fourteen year old about to enter her first year of high school. My...

Tell us a little bit about yourself!
Hi! I’m Kaci! I presently work full time practicing Family Medicine as a Public Health Physician Assistant. I also hold a bachelor’s degree in Dietetics. I am married and have a “fur-baby,” Tabb, who I would describe as a dog trapped inside a cat’s body! I grew up on a farm in Florida, but moved to the Alabama coast in 2007 and have lived here ever since.

Growing up, I was not what one would call a physically active kid. I enjoyed sports, but outside of the...

I tried extreme dieting in 2010 and while I would lose weight, as soon as I stopped a regimen, I gained everything back ... plus some! I found Dashing Dish after I was diagnosed with a thyroid condition because even with medication therapy, I still felt horrible and I realized I needed to completely change my lifestyle. I was only 31 years old at the time and had little to no energy to sustain me for basic daily living.

I began using Dashing Dish for the past few years, and I have made our...

I have been overweight my entire adult life. I have tried countless methods of losing weight - Weight Watchers, personal trainers, bariatric centers, even hypnotism. Some helped me shed some pounds but I always ended up gaining the weight back and then some. Then I had just given up, convinced it wouldn’t happen and not sure I even cared anymore. Finally during a conversation through text with my Mom (who had been praying and fasting for me), God began to speak to me. It was Good Friday and...
