My name is Carissa and this is a photo of me and my daughter Grace. Years ago my doctor did my blood work and said I was pre-diabetic. When I was pregnant I failed my glucose test and I was put on the gestational diabetic diet for the rest of my pregnancy. As soon as I had my daughter, I started eating anything and everything again, and went for easy things like pizza or cereal due the stress of motherhood, hormones and breast feeding hunger. I had an all or nothing approach with food, and I didn't see another option. I tried going back on low carb diets, and of course it works for a short time, but I could never sustain the diets or weight loss long term.
This is where Dashing Dish came in! Through the recipes and tools at Dashing Dish, I have finally lost weight and can sustain it for life, because I actually enjoy the foods i'm eating! I love the fact that Dashing Dish provides easy healthy recipes that my whole family can enjoy; And they only use simple real food ingredients! The best part is you don't have to give up your favorite foods! If you want pizza or cookies, there are healthier options that don't even taste healthy!
Another wonderful thing about Dashing Dish recipes is that if you are sensitive to carbs, all of the recipes are safe for insulin sensitive individuals like myself! Katie uses stevia, oats, almond flour; All of which makes recipes low glycemic and low carb naturally! God created oats and grains and most of us can handle, enjoy and benefit from them, but even if you can't handle grains, Katie provides grain free versions for most of her recipes!
Since finding DD, life is so much better, as I have truly discovered freedom! Freedom knowing I can actually enjoy food the way God created it to be. God has also opened my eyes to the fact that I don’t have to be a prisoner to counting carbs or points and that I can follow my body and Him; Which leads me to my next point. I have been a Christian for may years but I sense God calling all of us deeper. He wants to be a part of every area of our life, including our bodies and health. Our body is his temple and he wants to be involved in our health, our eating, and our relationship with food. If He helped me find freedom, I can promise He will do the same for you!
