I have been overweight my entire adult life. I have tried countless methods of losing weight - Weight Watchers, personal trainers, bariatric centers, even hypnotism. Some helped me shed some pounds but I always ended up gaining the weight back and then some. Then I had just given up, convinced it wouldn’t happen and not sure I even cared anymore. Finally during a conversation through text with my Mom (who had been praying and fasting for me), God began to speak to me. It was Good Friday and He said to me that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is also in me. I was finally ready to involve God in this journey and let Him help me lose weight and get healthy. I always wanted to be strong and do it on my own but we are not meant to, nor are we able to do it on our own.

Once I surrendered to this, things began to fall into place. I started to make very small changes – my first was just to cut out fast food! Then I gradually started changing more and more towards a complete healthy lifestyle. My mom gifted me Katie’s Delicious Devotions book and I loved it so I looked on her website to learn more about Dashing Dish. I loved her approach as a nurse and also a Christian woman to be healthy in body, mind, and spirit so I ordered her cookbook and also joined her membership in May 2017.
I’ve been cooking Dashing Dish recipes almost exclusively since I started my journey and I have lost 96 pounds so far. The best part is that it has been easy because Katie’s recipes are delicious and easy to make. They also have common ingredients so at times; I find I already have everything at home to make something without even going to the store. My favorite part is that she takes foods that you crave and makes healthy versions of them, like pizza, ice cream, enchiladas, and burgers, so I don’t feel deprived or like I’m on a “diet”. Her website and her books have helped me make this a true lifestyle change that I can continue lifelong instead of something temporary that when it ends, can cause you to put back on any weight that you lost.
I believe God gave me Dashing Dish as the tool I needed. Food had become an idol for me that I was putting before God and I had to give up my food addiction if I wanted to please Him and become closer with Him. God set me free from my bondage and addiction to food and I know He can do it for others too.
