Looking for a 25 Day Bible Study you can do in just a few minutes each day!? Sarah Shaffer is sharing her 25 days of Prayer and Study Inspired by the Women of the Bible! We hope it blesses you!
Day One: Lessons from Eve
Father God, thank you for your Word that has existed from the beginning. Thank you that you are Immanuel -- God WITH us. Just as you were with Eve, you are with us still. Lord, it's so easy to take our eyes off of you. There are times when you speak so clearly to our hearts, and yet, it's so easy to doubt. You give us your Word as a guide and a lamp to light our way, and yet, we wonder if every Word is true. Like Eve, we are only human. Imperfect, and prone to wander. As we spend time in prayer and meditate on your Word of truth, please help us stay resolute in our commitment to the truth. Let us not fall victim to voices that whisper, "Did God really say that?" Or, " Am I sure that's what you said, Lord?" Eve's most significant weakness, the one that led to her ultimate defeat, was to doubt your goodness. Lord, today and every day, may I be strengthened by your power and might to never doubt what I know You've told me. I pray this in Jesus, name. Amen
Day Two: Lessons from Eve
Lord, I thank you today for those who have gone before me to set examples to follow and avoid. Jesus, Eve struggled with temptation of so many flavors. She was tempted by doubt. She was tempted by self-sufficiency. She was tempted by power and control. She was tempted by pleasure and instant satisfaction (Oh, Eve, how you struggled.) From her folly, Lord, I praise that I can help bypass the snares of the devil, the ones that Eve fell into headlong. Please help me identify the Enemy's work in my life and quickly flee temptation and run straight into my Savior's arm where I am protected and established. I pray in Christ's name, amen.
Day Three: Lessons from Sarah
Heavenly Father, you are so good. Your ways are infinitely high above my own. Like Sarah, Lord, I tend toward taking things into my own hands. I confess that sometimes I doubt that nothing is too complicated for you. When circumstances look impossible, or I don't see an instant answer to my prayers, I may doubt your goodness. I may question your timing. Lord, forgive me and cause me to remain steadfast in the faith. There is nothing in my life you do not already understand. There is nothing you've for which you've not already provided. There is no way you've failed to protect me. You are with me and always for me. Lord, please help me remember that your timing is never a second off. Today, I surrender my plans in trade for yours and trust with all my heart that you are ALWAYS my best-case scenario. You are so good. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
Day Four: Lessons from Rebekah
Lord, thank you for your inspired Word that guides and teaches me. Today, will you help me learn from your daughter Rebekah to do what I can and let go of what I cannot do? I ask for the discipline to take inventory of ways I desire to change and then make choices that create that change. If I need to step out in faith, give me courage. If I need to rest and wait, give me pause. If I need to stir up a little more self-discipline and operate out of self-control, provide me with grit. Beyond those things, Jesus, I let go and let God. Please help me to release my iron grip on circumstances outside of my control. Lord, help me breathe in your peace and exhale anxiety over things I simply cannot control. As I do, Lord, I know I will see you move on my behalf in ways I don't dare dream or imagine. Today, Lord, I'll do what I can and open my hand of what I can't because I'm always in the palm of yours. I thank you in Jesus, name. Amen
Day Five: Lessons from Rachel
Gracious God, jealousy isn't pretty. Jealousy isn't holy. Yet, it is so easy to get baited into simmering, seething jealousy, Jesus. I have so much to be thankful for in my own life but get seduced into covetous glances at other's lives. I confess that when I see someone else looking the way I wish I looked or marrying the kind of person I desire to marry, or announcing another pregnancy when my heartaches over a still empty womb, I covet and I doubt. I feel jealous that they have what I think I'm lacking. I can so easily question your timing, your provision, even your goodness, Lord. Please forgive me and replace in me a clean heart and a grateful, praise-filled outlook. When I'm tempted by jealousy, will you prompt my heart and remind me to immediately stop and give you praise for my abundant blessings instead? You're so good to me, Lord, and I thank you. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
Day Six: Lessons from Leah
Father God, I know comparison is the thief of joy. My joy is at risk. Sometimes without any awareness, I'll find myself gazing upon the beauty of other women and comparing every nit-picking part of me to what I find more beautiful, leaner, or more worthy in them. Why is it so much harder to see my beauty than it is to recognize it in others, Lord? I'm sorry for that. When you, the God of the Universe, look upon me and say that I am beloved and altogether beautiful with no fault in your sight, and I look at that same image in the mirror and fault-find beyond reason it must break your heart? Break my heart for what breaks yours, Lord. I know that because I'm created masterfully in your image nothing in me lacks. Convince and convict my heart so profoundly that the temptation to compare myself is a memory.
Day Seven: Lessons from Miriam
Heavenly Father, you've placed in me unique gifts and talents. The purpose for which I'm called and equipped is unlike anyone else's. Today, Lord, will you help me to operate out of my giftings for your glory? I need help balancing courage without complaining, modest leadership, unwavering faith. I pray that I will always be a source of encouragement and light to those around me. In every circumstance where I'm tempted by grumbling or gossip, Lord, I pray that you will sanctify me and restore in me a clean heart. I pray today for a fresh revelation of your kingdom vision and purpose for my life, my I carry it out well, and may it be said of me that I am a woman of godly influence and eternal impact. In Jesus, name, I pray. Amen
Day Eight: Lessons from Rahab
Oh, Lord, how I desire to be a woman of great faith. I want to place my steadfast commitment to you above all else. When the Accuser comes to steal my confidence and tells me that I'm too broken to be able to help advance your kingdom, will you cause me to rise and stand up and declare Whose I am in the face of the Enemy? May I lay claim to the authority I have in Christ and never allow my struggles or my past to keep me from my place of promise. Thank you, Jesus, for helping me stand tall today and walk forward with confidence and conviction as I seek to leave a legacy of faith. Amen.
Day Nine: Lesson from Deborah
Throughout scripture, you show me examples of brave, bold, faith-filled women to inspire and encourage me. Thank you for that, Lord. There are such uplifting stories of women who have gone before me that stir my faith and light a fire in my soul. Like these great women of faith, Lord, I ask you to strengthen me to be laser-focused on obedience to you. May I never question your voice or your instruction? May I never value the opinion of people above God? Faith be my guide! I pray to be so intent on following you that nothing and no one can stand in my way. I constantly pray to humble myself under the mighty hand of God that He may exalt me at the proper time. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
Day Ten: Lessons from Ruth
Heavenly Father, how extravagant is your love for me! There is simply nothing I've ever done or ever will do that can separate me from your love and grace. When I face difficult situations, you make a way where there was no way. When I am weak, you are strong. There is nothing in my life story you do not use for good when I trust you. You are the only One who can redeem every aspect of my life. You heal wounds. You redeem hurts and sorrows. You prosper and provide for my future. In this life, there is pain, but help me to remember this is not my home. My name is written on the palm of your hand. You see me. You redeem me. You call me your own. It is well with my soul. In Jesus' name, amen.
Day Eleven: Lessons from Esther
Lord, how amazing that you appoint divine moments to change circumstances, both temporal and eternal. Please help me to never underestimate my calling and the impact my life has in this lifetime. I ask today for the courage to do what intimidates me. I ask for eternal vision and perspective to propel me confidently into my day, life, and legacy. In moments when my heart fails, and my strength grows weak, remind me to get up, gird myself to make a difference. I am indeed made for such a time as this, and you give me everything I need to reign victorious. I thank you for that, Jesus. It's in your mighty name that I pray. Amen.
Day Twelve: Lessons from Jezebel
Father God, I come before you with a humble heart. I ask you to search me and know me and reveal any unconfessed sin in my life. I desire a pure and holy nature that is fully pleasing in your sight. Wherever there are impure, nasty, or idolatrous areas of my life, I ask you to lead me into honest, heartbroken repentance that I may be forgiven and set free. Help me, Lord, to revere your name above any name and worship you alone. Today, I resist any temptation to think on what is not pure, praiseworthy, and admirable and determine to keep my body a pristine temple for your Holy Spirit. I thank you for your all-powerful presence and everlasting strength to help me run this race well. In Jesus' name, amen.
Day Thirteen: Lessons from Hannah
Jesus, you are the Prince of Peace. There is nothing but peace and love in you. You never fail me. You never forsake me. In this life, there are so many worries. There are genuine threats that come to steal my joy and peace. There are dreams and desires tucked deep in my heart, some spoken, some known only to you. Today, I bring you my every burden. I thank you that you invite me to the foot of the cross where I lay down every heavy thing that holds me back and suffocates my faith. You are faithful and worthy of my trust. I ask for courage to give you my cares and leave them in your capable hands. When tempted to take them back, give me a Holy Spirit nudge back to the cross. I know, Lord, that with you, there is peace. You will either give peace that my prayer gets a yes and amen, or just peaceful assurance that everything will be ok. Either way, I know that I will experience a peace that is beyond my understanding. I know because it's Who you are. I thank you in Jesus' name, amen.
Day Fourteen: Lessons from Abigail
Lord, thank you for this day. May I be rejoiceful and courageous in it? Father God, I ask you to help me this day to overcome any fears holding me back from being all I'm called to be. I pray that fear will never overcome me to the point of not moving forward in your courage and wisdom. Where I'm relying on my strength and understanding, Lord, will you replace fear with unparalleled faith? The Enemy comes to steal from me, but you came to give me life and freedom. Today, I lay claim to that gift and purpose in my heart to walk with bold faith. I will not give way to a spirit of fear but instead walk in power and strength, and the sound mind you promise is mine when I keep my eyes and heart firmly focused on you. I thank you for making me brave. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Day Fifteen: Lessons from Abigail
Heavenly Father, you have put dreams and desires in my heart. You have a holy calling for my life that only I can fulfill. My words and actions are robust and have an eternal impact. Will you help me, Lord, to look at the bigger picture? Will you give me eternal, kingdom perspective? I desire to be effective every day. Alongside daily impact though Lord, I know I must have foresight. Let me not get so caught up in the present that I fail to plan well for the future. Will you give me the wisdom to walk that line carefully? I pray for vision and deep understanding that my story's bigger picture is much more significant than one moment. I pray that today, I will think bigger to live better. In Jesus' name, I pray, amen.
Day Sixteen: Lessons from Tamar
Jesus, thank you for loving me despite my messes. Thank you that no genealogical lineage can determine my worth, my purpose, or my potential. I am more than additive tendencies in my family. I am more than mistakes made in my past. Nothing, nothing separates me from your affection. No matter how polluted my past, your love remains pure. Thank you that you alone can take my messes and create a message that changes lives. Thank you that in your economy, not one hurt is wasted and that you alone rescue me. I praise you today for using me for your glory. My heart pounds within me as I imagine the day of your return when I stand before you redeemed, and all is made right. I pray that when asked, "What did you do with the name of Jesus?" that I come to know the full significance of my life on this earth. In your name, my Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Day Seventeen: Lessons from Elizabeth
Father God, thank you for this day. I long to be a giver. As I go through my day today, Lord, will you help me to be extravagant in giving love and kindness. Will you make me deeply compassionate for other's struggles? Will you slay selfishness in me and instead pour out a fresh filling of generosity? May I look for opportunities to encourage someone today? Where I'm tempted to judge or jeer, may I instead pray. I ask today for a heart that desires to bless others every chance I get. Lord, will you reach the world through my heart and hands. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
Day Eighteen: Lessons from Mary (Mother of Jesus)
Lord, with all my heart, I desire to be a woman who says "yes" to your plan for my life. I choose abiding trust in your ways even when they don't make sense. When you say go, I go. When you say stay, I'll be content. I pray that you will be honored by an obedient, submissive, and humble heart within me in every situation and circumstance. Jesus, I go boldly, headlong into this day ready to say, "yes Lord," to whatever you call me to. I'm yours, Lord. Use me as you see fit. I'm your humble servant, and I submit my will to yours. In Jesus' name, amen.
Day Nineteen: Lessons from Mary (Mother of Jesus)
Father God, I reflect on the life of Mary this morning. The woman blessed above all women. She believed. Mary believed with all her heart that you would fulfill your promise. Lord, I ask for that kind of belief and trust. I ask for a promise all my own. I ask for a promise that will pierce doubt. A promise I can cling to in stormy seas -- my anchor. Will you speak a word to my spirit today and usher my heart into perfect synchronicity with yours as I cling to it with all my strength? Lord, I believe, forgive my unbelief, and strengthen me unto your promises this day. I humbly pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
Day Twenty: Lessons from Mary (Sister of Lazarus)
Jesus, you are captivating. I long to be more like your servant Mary who had a profound understanding of the power of presence. Mary understood the meaning of abiding. She was able to simply sit and soak you in. I yearn for more of that in my life. In the hustle and bustle of this busy, demanding life, Lord, will you beckon me to simply come and sit at your feet, captivated by you? Will you increase my capacity and comfort to be ok just "being" with you? I know you have treasures in store for me when I do. Lord, teach me one thing is needed, and, like Mary, may I choose that good thing, which will not be taken away from me? In Jesus might name, I pray. Amen.
Day Twenty-One: Lessons from Martha
Martha, Martha, Martha. Jesus, now this is a woman I get! I feel that sense of frustration over serving yet feeling unseen. I detect the bubbling up of resentment over the idea that sometimes life seems unfair. I struggle with a relentlessness that drives me to be "doing for" constantly. I confess, Lord, that though I serve my family, friends, neighbors, community faithfully, sometimes I can fall into martyrdom and lose the joy of it. Without notice, my service can turn stingy and my delight, drudgerous. I understand, Lord, that I simply cannot serve well with an empty spiritual tank. I must stop to fill up and nourish my soul so I can pour out without burnout. There is only one place I can find that fill, in time well spent with you, my Lord. Please, gently pull on my reins and bring me to a halt. Give me stillness, silence, and solitude where I find genuine rest in you. I thank Jesus in your name. Amen.
Day Twenty-Two: Lessons from the Proverbs 31 woman
Lord, all through scripture, you teach me the importance of prudence. I know that nothing, absolutely nothing, starts my day off on the right foot, like taking time to nourish my mind, body, and soul first thing in the morning. Your Word says, "She equips herself with strength [spiritual, mental, and physical fitness for her God-given task]. And makes her arms strong." This wise woman knew that to do and be all you called her to that she had to be healthy spiritually, mentally, and physically. Will you create the discipline to start my day, with time in the Word, worship, and prayer, every day? I know this is the most effective way to strengthen myself spiritually. I also know from her example that tending to mental and physical health is also essential. I ask for strength to discipline my body with proper exercise and nutrition to be a valuable vessel for the Holy Spirit. I ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.
Day Twenty-Three: Lessons for Mothers
Lord, your Word is chock full of inspiring "best practices" for motherhood. Thank you for the highly esteemed gift of being called "mom." I know that my children are a reward from you, and I commit to raising them well. I also confess my absolute need for your instruction, grace, and guidance to do that, Lord! Prompt me to turn to your Word when I need help. I praise you that within the pages of scripture is every bit of wisdom I need to steward my kids with excellence. Lord, please help me learn from the fantastic example of women like Hannah, who was persistent, steadfast, and diligent in prayer for her son. Mary faced fear with faith and boldly accepted the high call on her life to bring forth the Messiah. There are also lessons to be learned. Help me to learn from Sarah, who loved her son but had to let him go and entrust him into your care. Lord, I ask for endurance like Hagar and faith like Rebekah. Lord, I also recognize that there are multitudes of children who need motherly love and whose hearts ache for Naomi's adoptive spirit. I ask for vision to observe opportunities to love not just my children but others who enter my home, and with whom we interact at sports or church. I pray to be a godly mother and that my children will come to understand the never-ending love of Christ by my teaching and example. Equip me today, I pray. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Day Twenty-Four: Lessons for Money
Lord, your Word has much to say about money, wealth, greed, contentment, and stewardship. I desire to be a good and excellent steward over the gifts and provision with which you bless me. Lord, I pray that I will never be enticed by money to the point of idolatry. My heart cannot serve two masters, and I chose to serve and worship you alone. May I never put my hope in money or comfort, but instead in the eternal hope that comes through Christ alone. I pray that I will mature and learn to be content in whatever circumstances I am in. I desire to know how to get along with humble means, and also how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance, I learn the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need that I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. I pray to be an outrageously generous, and cheerful giver and that I will never be tight-fisted with money. Please help me not spend beyond my means and carefully consider where I store up my treasure. Above all, Lord, remind me to stay in steadfast peace, always trusting that you know my every need and that you will supply for them through your endless riches in glory in Christ Jesus. I pray in that mighty name. Amen
Day Twenty-Five: Lessons for Marriage
Father God, I thank you for your design for marriage. Marriage is a divine and holy covenant that reflects Kingdom insight. Today, I pray for [your spouse or future spouse]. I ask that you remind me that our marriage was ordained to help reflect your image. Please help me be Christlike in my marriage and always remember that I work hard for holiness, not always happiness. I pray, Lord, that my marriage [or future marriage] be fruitful and faithful. I ask God that you cause me to speak lovingly, gently, and respectfully always. I pray for a natural and peaceful order to my marriage and that we would be a light-giving example to those around us. Finally, Lord, I pray that we will never entertain divorce as an option. Bind our lips that we may not even speak the Word opening a door that the devil might put a snare around our hearts. May my marriage be hedged in with protection, blessed before you, and reflect your God-ordained ideal for marriage, as it's been since the beginning of time. I thank you, and I pray this in Jesus' name. Amen.
