When sitting down to consider what I really need for our second baby, one thing kept popping into my mind: "keep it simple". After figuring things out as I went with Maddie I knew I only wanted to purchase and pull out of storage the products that I will use consistently.
Being that this is my second baby, I have both experience and time on my side, both of which has helped me pick out the products that I feel I will actually need this time around! Time has proven to be in my favor with the development of baby products in the last five years!
After doing some serious research, reading reviews, and speaking with moms, this list is most of what I found to be most important when registering or shopping for baby (especially the second time around). This list would work for your first baby, as it is the most essential things, but for your second, third, etc. I think it really covers the basics that need updating from one child to the next, and also has the most innovative products if it's been a while since you have had a baby.
Here is what I asked for on my baby sprinkle registry, was gifted by family members, or bought myself for Oliver! Keep in mind this list is not everything you may need for a baby. I had plenty of things I pulled from storage, but these were the newer items that have come out since Maddie was born, as well as some things that needed to be replaced!

Pacifier Sterilizer- Pacis get dirty easily, and fall on the ground often! This portable sterilizer disinfects pacis and other small things in 60 seconds!
Babyganics Baby Wipes-The best wipes hands down! They get things really clean, and are organic and perfect for sensitive skin
Glass Lansinoh Bottles- The best bottles when breastfeeding and bottle feeding your newborn! They were the only ones Maddie liked, and I recommended them to many moms who said the same!
Bottle Warmer- If you are pumping and bottle feeding (even just once a day) it can be helpful to have a bottle warmer to gradually and safely warm your frozen breastmilk.
Moby Recline Baby Tub- I chose this bath because it drains directly into your sink so you can put it on the counter when they are newborns, but you can also place it in the bath to bathe with older sibling(s) as they grow!
Electric Nail File- I had a few traumatic experiences with cutting Maddie's nails as a newborn, and this electric file was the perfect option to file down baby nails, and prevent cutting their skin.
Pacifier Holder for Purse/Diaper Bag- I like that this one is silicone so you can wash it out from time to time, and it is cute!
Itzy Ritzy Diaper Bag- Itzy Ritzy makes both cute and practical diaper bags! I fell in love with this leopard one, and chose the mini since I feel I will bring less stuff with me the second kid around (knowing from experience what the true essentials are).
Snuggle Me Organic Baby Lounger- Basically the organic version of a Doc A Tot, which we loved with Maddie. We used it for naps when she was a newborn (around the house), and also for lounging when she was a baby.
Henry Hunter Cacoon Baby Swaddle- My friend told me about this swaddle, and I was quite intrigued that you don't need a velcro strap to mess with! Just pull the swaddle over their little body and it cocoons them right in!
Braun Nasal Suction- Basically a glorified nasal suction bulb that does the work for you, with a few different levels of suction, you just press the button and it clears your babies nose with gentle suction.
Fisher Price Dome- I plan to bring Ollie outside this summer, but being that he will be too little for sunscreen and a lot of sun exposure, this baby dome protects babies from sun and provides a cushy place for them to rest!
Nova Baby Swing- I did a lot of research on swings, especially compact swings. I know every baby is different, and Maddie didn't like the huge swing we had in our family room most of the time, so it felt like a waste of space. However, there are times when a new baby needs some motion, so I wanted to have something that didn't take much space. I read all the reviews for compact swings, and this one had the best reviews all around!
Honest Baby Diapers- The best at absorbency and don't include any toxic ingredients.
Hatch Baby Light/Sound Machine- The best sound machine, period! We have one for Maddie, so its nice we can connect both to the same app, and we love that you can set nap, sleep, and wake schedules.
Bamboo Wash Cloths- These came highly recommended from a friend that recently had her third baby. She said they are so absorbent, and very soft!
MAM Pacifiers- We used this brand with Maddie, and this was the only paci that stayed in her mouth as a newborn! It also didn't cause any issues with her teeth, and she used them until she was three!
Boppy Tummy Time Pillow- This pillow was something new I though i'd try to help with tummy time. I like that you can also use it to help them sit up when it comes time.
Boppy Lounger- We had one of these for Maddie, and needed a new one. We used it all the time for propping her up, breastfeeding, and reclining her back.
Moms on Call Book- This came highly recommended by so many moms. It includes tips and time tables for getting baby on schedule, sleeping longer stretches, etc.

Glass Doctor Browns Bottles- I got one set of these bottles since you don't know what kind they will like, I wanted to have two kinds available.
Spectra Breast Pump- My pump from when I had Maddie was broken, so this was the one I chose to replace. This had rave reviews, and I have heard a lot of great things about it! I like that it charges if you plug it in, and you don't have to have it plugged into a wall.
Badger Diaper Cream - I love all of the Badger products!
Safety 1st Anti-Microbial Dehumidifier- I love that this humidifier cleans itself using a UV light!
Weleda Baby Products- Weleda products are so gentle and have really clean ingredients if you have a baby with sensitive skin
Bamboo Burp Rags
Bamboo Baby Towels
Doona Car Seat and Stroller
Snoo Bassinet
