The kitchen is one of the most important rooms in your home. It’s where every meal is prepared, and you probably put a lot of effort into getting healthy food on the table! But, did you know that some of the dishes you cook with and the cleaners you use may contain chemicals that can be toxic to your families health!? If you consider health a top priority, and want to reduce your family’s exposure to toxins, the kitchen is a great place to start!
Today i'm sharing six simple kitchen swaps to reduce exposure to harmful chemicals in the kitchen, as well as my favorite cleaner swap outs for pots, pans, cleaners, etc!
To start, here are six swaps you can make to prevent toxins from entering your kitchen:
- Ditch Non-Stick Cookware.
- Swap Conventional Kitchen Cleaner For Non-Toxic Cleaner.
- Replace Plastic Food Storage With Glass.
- Swap Aluminum Foil for Parchment Paper
- Swap Non-Stick or Plastic for Silicone.
- Filter Your Water.
Here are my favorite non-toxic kitchen products:
Instead of toxic cleaners, opt for EWG verified non-toxic cleaners
Instead of dish soap with toxins, opt for non-toxic dish soap.
Instead of foil or paper liners, opt for these unbleached parchment paper options
Instead of non-stick pots and pans, opt for stainless steel.
Instead of plastic food containers, opt for glass.
Instead of non-stick baking pans, opt for stainless steel.
Instead of non-stick griddles, opt for ceramic.
Instead of non-stick muffin and donut pans, opt for silicone.
Instead of plastic water bottles, opt for 18-8 Stainless Steel water bottles
When it comes to learning more about toxins in our kitchen, the EWG is a great place to start educating yourself on the safety of products, food, and more! As always, I hope this helps you in your journey to health! Blessings, Katie xo
