Weight loss doesn't have to be arduous, or sacrifice filled. It only takes a few simple changes to make a significant, long-term impact. You won't even notice you've cut calories with these easy tips.
Eat sandwiches open-faced.
You don't have to give up your favorite sandwich to lose weight. Give up one slice of bread and enjoy it open-faced instead. Each piece of bread contains around 100-200 calories. So, this easy option can result in a pound of weight loss in just a few months. Easy-peasy.
Check your coffee.
While coffee is calorie-free, those sweet and creamy accompaniments can turn an unassuming cup of Joe into a sugar-laden calorie nightmare. Forget about heavy cream and syrups, and instead, try stevia mixed with coconut or cashew milk or one of the many liquid stevia flavors. Or make this indulgent Dashing Dish creamer dupe with just a few ingredients.
Eat more slowly.
This should be a no-brainer. All you have to give up is hurry! Taking the time to chew your food and eating slower can help you lose more weight than you think. Why? The body needs time to make all the necessary connections to understand when it feels full. We may not have given our bodies enough time to signal our brains that they are satisfied. Take a breath, slow down, and enjoy the gift of your food.
Ditch the soda.
Our recent Dish on Drinks article discusses drinking menaces at length, but soda is the most common culprit. Swapping soda for sparkling water with fresh lemon is a refreshing and healthy way to cut at least 200 calories!
Are you eating out? Just eat half.
You don't have to worry about dining out occasionally-it's a treat. Request a to-go box to control the portion size when ordering a restaurant meal. Before you eat cut the feast in half, box it up, and enjoy it later. Cheers!
Stay hydrated!
You may be thirsty when you think you're hungry. Tummy rumbling? Try drinking some water before you eat. You may just be dehydrated, and drinking some water might save you from unnecessarily eating.
Add a few extra steps.
It sounds obvious, but you might be surprised at how many chances to take extra steps are missed. It is worthwhile remembering that small deposits can yield big dividends and taking a few steps a day does precisely that. Look for opportunities to walk, step, or stand throughout the day. If only all of life was so simple...
