Proverbs 4:23 instructs us to guard our heart ABOVE ALL ELSE, for out of our hearts flow the issues of life. Think of your heart as a garden, and everything you allow in your heart is a seed that gets planted. Everything that goes into our garden will eventually produce fruit either good or bad. Unfortunately, many times we end up with things in our garden we don't like, and then we have to do the hard work of uprooting it!
Instead of uprooting, let’s be be proactive about what seeds get sown. We can do this by being alert and aware of the things that we allow in our hearts. Whether it be in the form of a show, movie, music, social media, etc. If it isn’t bringing life and agreeing with what God says, it isn't a seed you want sown into your heart.
There is a reason God's word tells us to guard our hearts above everything else. He knows how important the garden of our heart is, and He wants us to plant life giving seeds so we experience the good fruit of them! One of the ways we can sow good seeds into our life is by meditating on God's word and declaring His truth over our lives!
Here are five TRUTH declarations you can start speaking over your heart and mind today!
1. For God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7
2. I have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:16
3. I praise you Lord, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Psalm 138:14
4. The Lord says that I am “Altogether beautiful. There is no flaw in me.” Song of Solomon 4:7
5. I have the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight 1 Peter 3:3-4
There are countless promises we can pray and declare in the Word of God that brings us into agreement with what He says about us. In addition to these, I would encourage you to start writing out your own declarations from the Word of God!
Keep a guard on the negative things you let into your heart, and plant His truth instead! It will always bear the most beautiful fruit! xo Katie
