We call our daughter “Miracle Maddie” because there is no way in the natural I should of gotten pregnant with her, (I hadn’t had a period in over ten years due to hormonal imbalances); and when I was 38 weeks bleeding profusely, I was told I should have lost her, (the placenta was 80% torn away at the uterus when she was born, yet she was 100% perfect on the monitor, and after being induced, she was born healthy 5 hours later!)
Yet despite the miracle she is, the Lord revealed to me this morning what a miracle each one of us really are. Psalm 139 tells us that God created our inmost being, and that He knit us together in our mother’s womb.
If you’ve ever marveled at the intricacies of nature, although incredible, nothing compares to the details of the human body. I remember studying DNA in nursing school and being amazed. The detail God put into each one of us is beyond incredible. It’s a miracle!
I witnessed this awe when I became a labor and delivery nurse. With every baby born, the first breath of life filled the room with an unshakable knowing that God is real, and that He fills our lungs with breath.
It’s no wonder David remarked in this same passage, “I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made!”
Maybe your doubting your purpose or calling today. Maybe your praying for a miracle, or a baby; Or maybe you need to be reminded that your body is a walking miracle, and God cares so much about you that He not only knows your name, He thinks about you. He knows every detail of your life down to the number of hairs on your head.
Wherever you are today, whatever your going through, whatever your heart needs; Know this, every time you look in the mirror, you are looking at a miracle! What a precious gift life is, every detail of our bodies, working together like a symphony; Knit together by the maker of the universe!
