Scripture: "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever." Hebrews 13:8
Reflection: Life is ever-changing. It's one thing we can count on this side of heaven! This year has been a profound reminder of that truth, hasn't it? Sometimes change brings with it excitement and joy. Other times, change can take our breath away, and feel as though the rug has been pulled straight out from under us. Maybe you're experiencing personal change, maybe a healthy journey, a move, a change in your career, a child transitioning into college (or, this year, maybe transitioning from college back home!)? I know this well. My family is experiencing big changes in many areas of life right now and it's easy to pray from a place of panic, not peace. It's during those times that I find so much comfort knowing that no matter how much life changes, God never does. When headlines rock you to the core. When uncertainty lures you into anxiety. Even when good change -- growth -- feels unfamiliar and uncomfortable, remind yourself Who directs your path. Speak peace to your soul and remember the everlasting, unchanging, ever-loving nature of the God who never takes His eyes off of you. He's not surprised by the changes any of us are navigating. In fact, He is already on the other side waiting with open arms. If you ask Him, He'll give you just enough strength, courage, and light for the step you're on. Take solace today knowing that our Lord is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and He's got you!
Prayer: Lord, change is hard. It seems that human nature is to cozy up with the comfortable, with the familiar. Jesus, will you give me courage today as I trust you with our changing world and my changing circumstances? Please Lord, give me the fortitude to speak shalom to my soul and rest in the peace of knowing that though everything around me may change, you never do. Your love, your faithfulness, and your presence are constant. I will resolve to make that enough. Thank you for your perfect plan for all your children. In Jesus name, I pray, amen.
