“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you” (I Peter 5:6-7).
Do you ever have seasons of discouragement? Disconnect? Or like you’re praying prayers that go unanswered? We all do at one time or another. We live in a world that is broken, that we try to heal by bringing God’s Kingdom to Earth through our prayers. We are surrounded by tools that the devil uses each and every day to try to bring us down, discouraged, envious, lazy, jealous or destructive. It’s a constant battle of the enemy opposing us while God is defending us. But the beauty that comes from our breakdowns is the break through that God provides us.
I’m reminded of First Samuel as Hannah prayed to the Lord and wept in anguish. She was brokenhearted as she cried out. Possibly, wondering what she did to chase away the blessings that God has for her life. How many of us have felt the way Hannah did? I know I have had seasons or days where the Devil has used his tactics successfully to bring me down or turn me away from the goodness of God. But what is true is when we lose heart God heals it, when we forget about His goodness He reminds us, and when we pray prayers to help us through our heartbreak and struggles He answers. God is always there, even when it may feel like He isn’t, He shows up in the big and the small for those of us who call on His name.
It’s important as Women of God that we properly deal with our discouragement to avoid it leading to temptations of sin, doubt, fear and negative emotions. It is important to constantly anchor ourselves in the Word of God. Draw close to Him through Prayer, Worship and Scripture. Allow, yourself to always remain humble and teachable. Take care of your physical health and begin to recognize the wrong ways to deal with discouragement to avoid them in the future.
Don’t let discouragement defeat you and make you who the world would rather you be, but be the light that God created you to be. You can always approach God and receive his grace and mercy. Surrender all your worries and fears to Him and let him handle all your discouragement.
