It's hard to believe Oliver will be six weeks old in a few days! We just got his newborn session photos back (by the incredible Dayna Mager), that were taken when he was just days old, and he has already grown so much! I don't know if it's the fact that life with a newborn is busy, or I'm just sleep deprived, but it seems time with two kids has proven to go much faster!
I know I'm still very new to life with two littles, but I will tell you it has been so much different than I expected! I shared when I was pregnant with Oliver that I had fears about becoming a mom to two because I wasn't sure how I would divide my time, attention, and love. I was reassured by so many of you that your love doesn't divide, but it multiplies... And it couldn't be more true! Now that I have Oliver in my arms, my heart couldn't be more full! I have never been more thankful for the incredible gifts I have been given in my son and daughter, and I have had so much joy watching Maddie become a big sister!
Maddie has truly been the most loving, hands-on, and helpful big sister ever! I knew she would, but her love for Ollie has surpassed anything I could of imagined! She is a little momma, and so helpful, and even protective of her baby brother!
Sean and I both feel that being parents to two was an easier transition in many ways than becoming first time parents. Yes, there is a lot of learning to be done when it comes to juggling two; And there is also a lot to learn with Oliver, who is a different baby, but overall having experience is a huge benefit!
We are already starting a very loose routine when it comes to sleeping and feeding which is helping all of us transition easier, (I highly recommend Taking Cara Babies and Moms on Call). Also, having the support of my mom, sisters, and friends is so helpful! I have also been so thankful for the meals I prepared ahead of time, which we are still enjoying, (especially since I had an unexpected c-section).
Personally, I am doing really well, praise God! I am tired, expectedly so, but I am healing really well physically, and thanks to the wonderful support of all the people in our lives, all the transitions are going really good! I also have been making prayer and spending time with Jesus a priority daily, which has been huge for my mental and emotional health!
And Ollie, well, he is just the sweetest most peaceful baby, just as we prayed he would be! He sleeps anywhere from 2-4 hour stretches at night, he is breastfeeding really well, and is just starting to smile and interact with us, which is the best thing ever!!!
Now, onto the good stuff, and why most of you are probably here... Our first pictures as a family of four! Thanks for coming along this journey of life with us! xo Katie
