This year marked our very first journey into homeschooling—and what a journey it was. Maddie and I stepped into first grade hand in hand, hearts open, not fully knowing what to expect. What unfolded was a year filled with laughter, tears, and more growth than I could have imagined—for both of us.
From the very beginning, I knew this calling came from the Lord. I didn’t choose homeschooling because it was easy or convenient. I chose it because God led me here.
I was also extremely blessed to have a tutorial in our community, which walked side by side with our family in homeschooling, and Maddie even got to go to school two days a week. We were so thankful for this community and the friendships and support systems made!
Trusting the Call
I remember asking, “How could I possibly find the time to do it all?” Between Maddie’s lessons, a busy toddler in the background, and my own work responsibilities, the logistics felt overwhelming. But God gently reminded me of the miracle of the loaves and fishes—and He promised to multiply my time if I would just take the first step in obedience. And so I did.
Was I scared? Yes.
Uncertain? Absolutely.
But trusting? Fully.
Learning Together
This year tested me in so many ways. I had to learn not just how to teach—but how to teach Maddie. I had to discover how she learns best, what excites her, what discourages her, and how to create a rhythm that worked for us both. That process was a learning curve all its own.
I also had to lean deeply on the Lord for grace, wisdom, and patience, especially with the added challenge of homeschooling alongside a very active two-year-old. Some days were messy. Some days were magical. Most days were both.
The Blessing of Obedience
Despite the challenges, the greatest lesson of all was about the blessing that comes through obedience.
I started homeschooling because the Lord told me to—and I followed, even when I didn’t know how it would work. And in that surrender, He proved Himself faithful. He didn’t just help us get through the year—He helped us flourish.
Maddie is thriving. Our family is thriving. And my heart is full.
Looking Ahead
I can’t wait to see what Maddie will become as she continues to grow, learn, and follow God's plan for her life. One thing I know for sure:
When God calls, He equips.
When we obey, He blesses.
And in all things, He is faithful.
Here’s to the next chapter. 💛
