From the very moment my babies were placed in my arms, I wanted more than anything to be a spiritual covering for them, which meant being a praying mom; but honestly, I found my days being flooded with tasks and the moment I sat down to pray, my mind would wander to errands I needed to run, meals I needed to cook … and oh someone needs a mess cleaned, or drink refilled.
Then I’d rein my thoughts back in, feeling guilty that I couldn’t stay focused. What’s wrong with me? Why can’t I pray for 10 minutes without getting distracted? I’m a terrible mother! Has that ever happened to you when you sat down to pray? If so, know that you are not alone!
That being said, I have found that many of the most powerful prayers are found right in the Bible! The best part is, they are practically written out for us to pray, and we can be sure they line up with God’s will! The only thing we may need to do is rephrase the wording, or fill in a name to make it personalized to the person we are praying for!
I began searching the Bible and finding scriptures to pray over my children, specifically including prayers that would cover the most important areas of their life; Essentially covering them from head to toe! We can rest assured that when we pray the Word of God, we pray the will of God, it is powerful and effective, and alive! (Hebrews 4:12). Praise God!
Here are some examples of scriptures that you could pray over your children. Feel free to fill in your children(s) name and print out these prayers, adding to them for your specific child. You can tuck them into your bible and pray them in your devotional time, or hang them above your child(s) bed so you can pray them before bed. You could also consider searching the word of God for promises specific to your child.

Another option is downloading this printable prayer. I created this for both of my children and have it hanging on their walls by their bed. I pray it over them every night so they hear the word of God spoken over them daily!

I hope this is a blessing to you in your motherhood journey! Blessings, Katie
