The Lord promised us that when we pray according to His will (which can be found in His Word), then we can be confident that He hears our prayers! (1 John 5:14). For this reason, I like to have a few scripture based prayers written out for when I am in need of prayer that I can pray when I need to be reminded of the truth. I hope these prayers are a helpful resource for you, and that they are also a helpful outline for you to write your own scripture based prayers!

I wrote these prayers using scriptures from the Word of God that relate to different emotional battles that we all may go through in life. There is no ‘magic’ formula to praying these prayers. In fact, the way to develop a powerful, effective prayer life is by simply spending time with the Lord every day, which can and should include praying from your heart, as well as speaking forth God's promises!

I would also encourage you to ask the Lord to show you scriptures that He has specifically for you; But I hope these prayers help get you started! I pray you are encouraged today by these prayers, and that the awesome Word of God reminds you who are in Christ, and the overcoming victory that you can have in Him!

Scripture Based Prayers to Combat Emotional Battles

When You Need Encouragement:
Lord, your Word tells me to be strong and of good courage. You have told me not to be afraid, nor be dismayed, for you Lord are with me you wherever I go. (Joshua 1:9) You have also told me that in the world, I would have tribulation; but you also told me to be of good cheer, for you have overcome the world (John 16:33). So today I make the choice to be of good cheer, strong, and courageous, for you are with me. With you I can overcome any trial that I face! Thank you, Lord, for encouraging me today! In Jesus Name, Amen.

When You Need Wisdom:
Father, your Word promises me that I can ask you for wisdom, and when I ask, you will give it to me liberally if I trust you to do so (James 1:5). Lord, I’m asking you now, in Jesus Name, for wisdom in my situation today. I pray that you would flood my mind with wisdom and understand- ing and that I will keep my trust in you. I thank you Lord for your peace as I wait on you to lead and guide me today. In Jesus Name, Amen.

When You Need Peace:
Lord, I thank you that your Word says that You will keep those in perfect peace who’s mind is stayed upon you, because he trusts in you (Isaiah 26:3). Lord, I make the decision now to place my trust in You and to keep my mind stayed upon you. As I do, I thank you that you will keep me in perfect peace today. In Jesus Name, Amen.!

When you Need Joy:
Lord, your Word says that in your presence is fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11). I pray that your presence will fill this very room right now, and that I would feel your arms of love wrap around me. I pray that you would turn my mourning into gladness; and that you would give me comfort and joy instead of sorrow. (Jeremiah 31:13) Thank you, Lord, for filling me with joy today! In Je- sus Name, Amen.!

When You Need Restoration:
I thank you Lord that your Word promises that you will restore me and make me strong, firm and steadfast (1 Peter 5:10). Lord, no matter how bad my situation may seem today, I know that you can take ashes and make something beautiful (Isaiah 61:3). Thank you, Lord, for healing and mending my heart and restoring the joy and peace that can only come from you. (Psalm 147:3) I remain confident that the good work that you began in me will continue it until the day it is com- plete (Philippians 1:6). Thank you Lord, for the ways you are restoring me today! In Jesus Name, Amen. !

When You Need Hope:
Lord, your Word says that you are the God of hope, and that you will fill me with all joy and peace when I place my trust in you. I pray that by the power of the Holy Spirit that I may abound in hope today. (Romans 15:13) I pray that you would remind me of the truth Lord, and that when I keep my mind fixed upon your promises that I would be filled with hope for my future. I know that you have good plans for my life, and I trust you God. (Jeremiah 29:11) Thank you Lord, for filling me with hope today! In Jesus Name, Amen. !

When You Need Strength & Motivation:
Lord, I thank you that your Word promises that you give me strength, and that through your strength I can do whatever it is that I need to do (Philippians 4:13). I know that my own strength is not enough, and I know that I need you. I pray that you would fill me with your strength as I spend time with you today. I thank you that you recharge and energize me to do all that you have called me to do, and do it well! Thank you Lord, for strengthening me today! In Jesus Name, Amen. !

When You are Feeling Lonely:
Lord, I thank you that you have promised me that you will never leave or forsake me. (Joshua 1:5) I pray that as I draw near to you today, that you will draw near to me (James 4:8) and that I would feel your arms of love wrap around me. I pray that instead of feeling empty and alone, that you would help my heart to feel full of the love that you have for me. I thank you that you are always with me and that I am never alone. In Jesus Name, Amen.
