In my new book Nourish, I talk about how important it is to "Find Your Why". Your why is the very thing that is motivating you to get and/or stay healthy! It may be your children, desiring to live a long healthy life, or it may be something specific such as having the energy and stamina to start a new business! Whatever it is, find your "Why" and write it down or take a picture of it. Keep it somewhere you can see it, so you have that motivating factor set before your eyes when you need it most.
In Nourish I talk about a few specific reasons having a why is so important. Here are two to get you started:
CHANGE YOUR MINDSET
What is your reason behind wanting to get healthy!? Having a why will help you change your mindset and give you a purpose behind every choice you make, big or small. Begin to think about nourishing your body in order to make it stronger, healthier, and and living out your ‘why’, rather than how you look or what you weigh. When you start to look at health from a stand point of making your body work right and feel it's best, you will be more likely to stick with healthy habits long-term.
It is important to realize that falling down at times is going to happen, and it will probably happen more than once. The important thing is that we learn to pick ourselves up and keep pressing forward towards our goal! When we deal with setbacks in any area of our lives, we must remember how far we have come in our journey. Sure, we may not yet be where we would like to be, and we may even take steps away from our goals at times, but what matters most is that we are not where we used to be! If we reflect on the progress we have made and keep our minds focused on our why rather than the setbacks, then we will be encouraged to keep pressing on towards the good things ahead!
