If you’re a mom feeling like your health is second third or fourth to your family, I feel you! There are days that I barely get a bite of food in my own mouth, but on most days I try to prioritize my health just as much as my families. Here are my top three tips for caring for myself and my family!
1. Prioritize Meal Planning and Prep:
I know most moms, (including myself), aim to feed their kids well balanced meals throughout the day! We want our kids to grow up healthy, but also feel their best, and I also want the same for myself! In order to do this, I have found its essential that I plan ahead.
I highly recommend planning and preparing your meals in advance (Sunday afternoons are my go-to) to ensure you have healthy, balanced options available to grab from the fridge throughout the week. Focus on nutrient-dense foods like lean proteins, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. This helps avoid last-minute unhealthy food choices, especially when you’re busy.
2. Follow a Program:
Just like meal prepping helps you stay on track with your diet, following a pre-planned meal plan or workout routine can do the same by taking the guess work out! By sticking to a plan, you can easily carve out time for meal prep and exercise, when all you need to do is show up.
This is where the Dashing Dish app comes in, with meal plans that are sent directly to your inbox, (based on what meal plans you choose), or the ability to customize meal plans with a few simple clicks! We also have workout plans for at home or the gym, complete with videos for each move.
3. Include Your Kids:
It can be so hard to carve out alone time as a mom, especially when your kids are young. So why not make meal planning and movement something you can do together?
Most kids love to be in the kitchen, and involving them can teach them valuable life lessons, along with expanding their pallets when they know they helped create the meal!
When it comes to exercise, they can join you for a walk or daily life movement; Or, waking up before they do to exercise can be some of the best alone time to start your day!
Your health is just as important as your families, and you can't care for them if you don't feel good yourself! Remember that! 🤍 xo Katie
