“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers, but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law, he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.” Psalm 1:1-3
What would it be if I asked you to choose one word to describe your physical, emotional, and spiritual health?
Does that word describe your heart’s desire? Is it a word that you are content with to explain your condition? If so, praise God! What a fantastic celebration that is! If not, though, take heart. The Lord has wholeness in mind for you!
The Lord has been speaking the word thrive to my heart for the past couple of months. Thrive, it’s such an emotional and powerful word. It’s hard even to say it without deep conviction in your voice!
Friends, I believe the Lord desires that each of his children enjoy a life that thrives. Today, so many of us will “Get through it.” That is simply a life of survival. I genuinely believe that the Lord intends that we live a life beyond just that of surviving. He created us to thrive.
If you’re reading this today, I believe the Lord has put you here at this exact moment on purpose. I think that you’re reading these very words at precisely the right time because the heart of the Father God desires that you thrive today. He wants you to know the gift of a body that succeeds in radiant health. He wants you to see the blessing of a mind that thrives in freedom and joy. And, perhaps most of all, He passionately desires that your relationship with Him thrives through closeness and intimacy that exceeds your understanding.
The word thrives, a verb, is action-oriented. It’s something the Lord does in us. To thrive is to prosper, to enjoy success, to grow and develop vigorously, to flourish. That, my friend, is what’s available to you. It’s yours for the taking. Will you live your life as a verb and watch what God alone can do to restore, refresh, and revive you? He is active and deeply interested in prospering every nuance of your life today because you, my friend, are His beloved.
