Read Joshua 1:1-19; This passage in Joshua is one of my favorites in all of scripture. Four times the Lord commands him, "Be strong and courageous." I love this for so many reasons. It comforts me, and it makes me smile. Does the Lord get us or what? I don't know about you, but I can be a "four times" kind of gal. I find so much grace in the Lord's approach to Joshua and us. Our Lord knows that even the most pure-hearted Jesus-girl may begin to step out in faith and then retreat. "Be strong and courageous, my daughter," He whispers repeatedly. Such merciful assurance.

Do you sense the Lord calling to you something that terrifies you? Do you see the Holy Spirit stirring circumstances that nudge you out of your comfort zone? Rejoice in the promises found in Joshua. Your loving, perfect, all-knowing father promises YOU:

• I will never leave or fail you.
• Be strong and courageous. I am with you.
• Obey my Word, and you will be successful.
• Don't be afraid or discouraged. I'm with you everywhere you go.
• The Lord gives you rest.

Today, whatever the Lord asks you to do for His namesake, know this – He sees you. He understands you. And He is with you. You need not depend on your own might, power, or ability to walk with strength and courage. It is by the Lord's established plans and promises that we prosper. Lean in and draw on His unfailing strength today.
