"So I, the prisoner for the Lord, appeal to you to live a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called [that is, to live a life that exhibits godly character, moral courage, personal integrity, and mature behavior—a life that expresses gratitude to God for your salvation], with all humility [forsaking self-righteousness], and gentleness [maintaining self-control], with patience, bearing with one another in [unselfish] love." Ephesians 4:1-16 (AMP)
God is so kind to guide us and help us understand how to live in a righteous way that brings Him glory. Whether you are in a season filled with baby steps or the Lord is calling you way out of your comfort zone into God-sized dreams that require mammoth steps of faith, the "how" is the same.
We glorify God in the big and the little steps of life when we live a life worthy of our call as His representatives to a watching world.
Notice, He doesn’t call us to be perfect. No, He appeals to us to live with integrity, courage, and behavior that draws people to Jesus. He uses us in our imperfect state to draw others to the perfect One. We are called to live in a way that makes Jesus look as incredible as He indeed is. We love the Lord and we desire to honor Him. That love motivates us to live lives that look different from the world.
When people observe our lives or spend time with us, we desire to live in a way that causes them to notice something in us. Something they’re inexplicably drawn to. Something they want more of! We can live out our messy, flawed, busy, beautiful callings in a way that expresses gratitude for what Jesus offers us.
What is one practical way you live a life worthy of your call as a follower of Christ? When the world is watching, how will you show them Jesus in your life today?
