Scripture: "Give thanks to the Lord for He is good, His faithful loves endures forever." Psalm 118:1
Reflection: Have you ever heard the term, "What you allow increases"? It's basically saying that when we partake in something once, our human nature is to do so more and more. For example, we are gluten-free by necessity. When my son eats gluten his body has an adverse reaction. However, the side-effects are not so severe that they completely debilitate him, they simply keep him from feeling his best. Occasionally he'll choose something with gluten. When he does, I see the temptation to allow just a little more of this and a little more of that increase. Every time! The same holds with our thoughts. When we choose to think on our fears, worries, failures, and shortcomings, those thoughts become more and more at home and begin to affect every aspect of our lives. Thankfully the opposite is also true! When we make a choice to think about our blessings, our beauty, and our gratitude, we reap a rich harvest of fruit from the Spirit. When we give thanks for Who God is and how He loves us, we notice it more, we revel in it more, and, we rest in it more! Today, what increase in your life? Give thanks to the Lord, He is so good!
Prayer: Gracious God, I give you thanks. You are indeed so good. I thank you today for your faithful and never-ending love. Will you give me holy vision today? I ask that you cause me to notice your goodness all around me today. I desire to give you thanks with my attitude and know that when I do my gratitude multiplies. May you be made more and I made less today. I praise you above every other name! Jesus, you are so good. It's in your name, I pray. Amen.
