“Jesus, take the wheel.”
I tend to be more of an “I’ll drive!” kind of gal far too much of the time. There are areas of my life that I’m quick to surrender to the Lord’s control. Yet, others, I find myself habitually butting in, clutching the wheel. It’s a revealing pattern. One that I must willfully bring to the foot of the cross – over and over. Are there desires tucked in your heart? Resolutions rendered that seem too tender to surrender? I deeply understand. Let’s remember Who we worship. Let’s remember often. It’s done with the simplest prayer that ushers in a profound offering. Let our hearts and voices declare, “You are Lord over my life.” In every circumstance, become an expert at reminding yourself of the proper control order.
“You are Lord over my health.”
“You are Lord over my finances.”
“You are Lord over my family.”
“You are Lord over my future.”
When you vie for control, the enemy deceives you. When you open your hands to the One who holds the world in His, you find rest. Let us cling to the promise, not our power. “For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.” Isaiah 41:13
