Scripture: "We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." 2 Corinthians 10:5
Reflection: One of the most powerful ways to have victory in the area of our minds is to regularly challenge our thoughts by holding them in light of God's truth. We can ask ourselves, "Is the thought I'm having true? Or is it being influenced by what I'm seeing, hearing, or believing from social media, TV or radio, the company I'm keeping, etc."
Then, ask, what does the Word of God say about this? Does what I'm thinking align with what God thinks, or tells me I should think? If not, scripture tells us to take that thought captive, arrest it! (2 Corinthians 10:5)
We can do this by memorizing scripture and speaking it out loud. We can also post scriptures around you to remind you to speak God's Word (scripture says, never let the truth out of your sight, take it literally!).We can actively renew our mind to the truth by singing praise and worship. Or, we can simply run to our bible and ask God for a verse or two to declare over your situation, thought, or struggle. He is always faithful.
Prayer: Glorious God, you search us and know us, you know our strengthens, you know our weakness, and you love us equally in both. Spirit of truth keep us undeceived and easily able to discern truth over lies. Give us the strength to come to you every day, to gird ourselves up with truth so we stay connected to the vine of life. Help us to prioritize nourishing our spirits so we are easily able to renew or minds and walk by the power of your Spirit, Lord. Lord we cry out, “May my hand never weaken, my feet never stumble, my sword never rest, my shield never rust, my helmet never shatter, my breastplate never fall, as my strength rests in the power of thy might.” In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray, amen.
