“I hope very much that I will have no reason to be ashamed [of the Gospel of Christ]. I hope to honor Christ with my body if it be by my life or by my death. I want to honor Him without fear, now and always.” Philippians 1:20 (NLV)
Do you know the way you care for your body is part of your testimony and can be a form of worship? When we resolve to care well for our bodies as an act of worship and to honor Christ, we instantly become more effective both in this life and for the Kingdom. When you center your thoughts on glorifying the Lord, the body can’t help but follow. It’s almost an automatic response. When your focus is on making an impact for God by living out your purpose, you will instinctively fuel yourself for energy, not comfort. You will rest in preparation to move mountains. You will want to care well for yourself, so you are as effective, successful, useful, and vibrant as possible for the Lord. Maybe this is a new way of considering your health? Maybe you’ve never viewed caring for the body from any other perspective than for weight loss? If your motive for caring well for yourself have been limited to appearance and aesthetics, you will be delighted as you begin to view it from this perspective. When you shift your focus from eating and living well for the sake of a number on the scale to something bigger, you will truly begin to understand what living better really looks and feels like! What is your honest motivation for being the strongest, healthiest, most vibrant version of you? How can you shift your focus from nourishing and caring for your body for weight-related goals to God-focused purpose? May the Lord strengthen you to honor Him with your body today.
