My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body. Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” -Proverbs 4:20-23
We are bombarded by messages everyday. Everything from the media, magazines, and even people around us has an opinion; But what happens when all of the opinions are contradicting one another and we are left feeling confused, anxious, and even insecure about what to think or believe? In times like these, we need to to recognize that the only true and accurate opinion that is steady, unchanging, and the report in which we can find confidence is the Word of God.
The Word of God is far superior to any wavering opinion of our culture, as it is always constant and full of life giving power. The word is so powerful in fact that it created the world as we see and know it! (Hebrews 11:3)
If you are a Christian, then you have Jesus living on the inside of you, (Romans 8:11). Although we are still living in this world, when we received Christ as our savior, we are no longer apart of it. Therefore, what the world tells you no longer pertains to you. The Word of God trumps every natural word and report.
If you are confronting opinions or reports that do not agree with the promises of God, let the Word of God have final say in your life. When it seems like nothing is changing, the Word of God will always produce when you continue to trust in God’s faithful promises. Decide today that no matter what message comes your way that the Word of God has final say in your life. When you do, you will find a confidence that is unshakable, and a peace that passes all understanding!
Prayer: “Lord, despite the opinions and reports of others, I thank you that I can run to your Word to find the peace, strength, and hope I am searching for. Help me to keep your Word before my eyes and in my heart. May I be steadfast and immovable despite the progress I see, feel, and hear. I choose to trust in your Word knowing that it is more powerful and true than anything of this world. Strengthen my heart with your Word Lord, and teach me to guard my heart against fear or anything that contradicts your promises. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!”
