“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you.” -Isaiah 26:3
What a wonderful promise that God has given us; That when we keep our thoughts fixed on Him, we will be kept in perfect peace!
This means that we have the ability to stay in perfect peace, regardless of our circumstances. How do we do this even in the midst of fearful news, the unknown, or in the midst of a storm?
Isaiah 26:3 tells us that perfect peace occurs when we make the choice to do two things.
First, we must trust God. In the natural, we know that if we trusted someone to take care of us, provide for us, and guide us, then we would feel a huge burden lifted off of us knowing that someone will take care of what we can’t.
Next, we are instructed to fix our thoughts on Him. We do this by focusing our attention on the Word of God; And not only are we to think about God's promises, but we must also make the choice to reject any thought or emotion that violates God’s Word and tell our thoughts and emotions to agree with what God’s Word says about us. It is then that we will be have the perfect peace that God's word is telling us we can have.
This kind of peace gives us the ability to walk through life with an unshakable confidence as we trust in God's great faithfulness and His promises towards us!
Prayer: “Lord, help me to take the steps that you have laid out for me when I am tempted to let my thoughts and emotions run wild. I pray that you will remind me to trust in you and fix my mind on your promises when I face a situation that tempts me to get out of perfect peace. I thank you for this perfect peace that can only be found in you. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!”
