“He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man's heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.” Ecclesiastes 3:11

There is nothing more spectacular than fall in the Midwest. The spectrum of colors is difficult to describe. I stood in awe yesterday morning, gazing at a painted sunrise sky and rainbow of changing leaves. As I tried to take it all in, I praised God for His great love for us. What a wonderful gift He gives to us, the gift of beauty. His choice at creation was to create beauty for us. We could live in a static, colorless world void of interest and beauty, but instead, we revel in and revere the Creator because of it. He gives us beauty because He is beautiful.

Creation reflects His character. He grants us beauty for our pleasure because He loves to lavish us with good gifts. We are created to crave beauty – especially as women. In a world full of mixed messages about what it means to be beautiful, we, as children of God, must remind ourselves that enjoying our beauty is not wrong. We should. It is fitting to thank God for how He created you. It's essential, however, to measure and monitor it according to God's standard, not the world's. Allow God to humble you as you realize that when He looks at you, He sees the same beauty that leaves us speechless when we revel in His. What an incredible truth that is!
