"The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied.” Proverbs 13:4
As a parent, I try to teach and model the concept of “doing the difficult things first.” It's challenging because it's the opposite of our human nature. We tend to go in the direction of the easy path. However, it isn't always the most fruitful path. It is rare that the things worth doing are also the easy ones. Taking on the difficult tasks in your day, to-do list, and your health journey will result in enormous blessings. This echoes the popular quote: "I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it."
When considering your day and journey, what is the hardest thing you're facing today?
Perhaps you are sticking to a commitment you would rather resign from. It could be something much closer to the heart, such as choosing forgiveness over bitterness and resentment. If you need to do something difficult today, tackle it first. The discipline of diligent work builds character, builds strength, and trains us for the endurance race ahead. You are stronger than you realize and capable of far more than you could ever imagine. May God bless you with fresh resolve today.
