“Then Jesus told him, ‘Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.’” John 20:29
Read that passage of scripture again. What words jump out at you? For me, I’m left amazed by the words, “And yet.” These two little words are so powerful! They are important not only here, but in our relationship with Christ in general. Do you ever consider the profoundness of the words, “And yet”? The use of the words, “and yet” is commonly used as a conjunction used to introduce a fact that is unexpected or surprising given the previous fact you’ve just mentioned. In Christ’s economy, they are a promise and an assurance. In two little words, the Lord summarizes the truth about who He is and how He sees us. It’s a truth that reliably leaves me shaking my head in awe and amazement. No matter where you are in life or with the Lord today, know this –
- You stumble and you slip-up, and yet, God sees you through eyes of mercy.
- You feel like a mess, and yet, God sees your message and His masterpiece.
- You doubt, you fear, and yet, God gives you fresh faith.
- You wander, and yet, God relentlessly pursues you.
- You feel tired, weary, and weak, and yet, God gives you unending and unimaginable strength.
And yet, God!
Listen, my sisters, there is simply no fumble or struggle the name of Jesus will not cover. His name is above every difficult day, every trying task or test, every lie, hurt, or scar life or people have left you with! He is the great I Am. He is the redeeming “And Yet.” Take peace in knowing you can simply never fall too far for His grace to reach you. Enjoy God’s goodness today.
