"We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." 2 Corinthians 10:5
Our thoughts are vitally important in light of the current culture. It would be so easy to allow the state of the world to drag us into fear, worry, and even hopelessness. That's why we as believers must think on purpose. Do you harness the power of intentional thoughts or find yourself caught in thought currents that toss you into torrents of worry, doubt, condemnation, or fear? One of the most powerful ways to have victory is to regularly challenge our thoughts by holding them in light of God's truth.
We should ask ourselves regularly, "Is the thought I'm having true? Or is it being influenced by what I'm seeing, hearing, or believing from social media, TV, or radio, or even the company I'm keeping?" Then, ask, what does the Word of God say about this? Do my thoughts align with what God says? If not, scripture tells us to take that thought captive, arrest it! (2 Corinthians 10:5) We can do this by memorizing scripture and speaking it out loud. You can also post scriptures around to remind you to speak God's Word (scripture says, never let the truth out of your sight, take it literally!). We can actively renew our minds to the truth by singing praise and worship. Or, we can simply run to our bible and ask God for a verse or two to declare over our situation, thought, or struggle. He is always faithful.
Let's pray! "Glorious God, you search us and know us, our strengths and weaknesses, and in both, you love us equally. Spirit of truth keep us undeceived and easily able to discern truth over lies. Please give us the power to come to you every day and to gird ourselves up with truth, so we stay connected to the vine of life. Help us prioritize nourishing our spirits, so we can easily renew our minds and walk by the power of your Spirit. Lord, we cry out, "May my hand never weaken, my feet never stumble, my sword never rest, my shield never rust, my helmet never shatter, my breastplate never fall, as my strength rests in the power of thy might." In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray, amen."
