Have you ever set out to reach a goal but life seemed to get in the way!?
One of the things I like to remind myself is that despite all that we have to do in a day, we are ultimately the only ones that get to choose how we spend each moment. One of the choices we all have to make is how we care for our physical bodies on a daily basis. I strongly believe that if we do not make health a priority, we will never become all we were created to be. Not only will we not feel our best, but we won't have the energy, strength, and stamina to live out our purpose to the fullest.
But what if you started making choices to that put you on a new path today? What if you made the choice to stop putting off your health and started making small investments into your future? What if you believed that you are capable of getting in the best shape of your life, feeling your best, and becoming the best version of you!? How would that help you be a better woman, mom, wife, business owner, career woman, student, or friend!? And how would your example influence the people around you that you love most!?
I think that it's pretty safe to say that as women we tend to neglect ourselves in an effort to care for those around us. I remember this feeling all too well when I was beginning my postpartum journey. I remember feeling like my to-do list multiplied times one hundred, and time shrunk in half the moment I became a mom. Yet, even with all of the "reasons" in the world to put my health on hold, I decided to keep it a priority so I could feel my best; Which would ultimately give my family the best version of me!
Since becoming a mom, I am often reminded of what the stewardess says about putting on our oxygen mask first in the case of an emergency; So that we are able to care for others. In the same way, we as women need to prioritize our health so we can be strong emotionally, physically, and mentally to care for those we love. In order to do so, we have to make the time to care for our bodies, knowing that they are valuable and worth taking care of!Above is a real look into my personal post-partum journey! As women, our health truly is a just that- a journey! Our bodies are so wonderfully complex and experience so much in a life time; Which is why we must make caring for them a priority every single day!
Remember, I am speaking from a place of experience, as a busy working mom and wife! I too have to plan and guard my priorities, because they can easily get blurred in the midst of a busy week. One of my favorite ways to make my health a priority is by dedicating the first hour of my day to spending time with the Lord, which is then followed by a quick and effective workout. When I start my day with the Lord and moving my body, everything I do later in the day is more productive, and I am a better wife and mom because of it!
If you think that you don't have time to dedicate 1-2 hours in your day to strengthen yourself spiritually and physically, then I would encourage you to re-focus your priorities. Each one of us have the same 24 hours in a day, and we all get to choose how we are going to spend it. We give our time and attention to do what we deem important, and if you want to live a life that is healthy and free, you must make your wellness a priority.
So, the real question is, how important is it that you start to feel confident, gain energy, and feel your best? Even though most of us wouldn’t admit it, we all have things that suck our time and distract us from what matters most. The first place to start is to ask ourselves what matters most, and begin to reshape our schedule to make those things a priority; And YES, your health is a top priority! Remember that YOU are worth taking care of and your health is worth investing in!
