Happy Friday friends! I hope you all have had a wonderful start to summer! June is my favorite month of the year, (outside of December), because it is not only the start to summer, but it is also my and Maddie's birthday month! We always celebrate the kick-off to summer with strawberry picking which is something I look forward to every year! Strawberries were something I craved when I was pregnant, and are now one of Maddie's favorite foods!

We celebrated Maddie turning four with a princess...

The weight of shame is one of the heaviest to carry, isn't it? During my ten-year struggle with eating disorders, I felt hopeless at times. I felt sad. I felt powerless. The darkest, most painful sting, though, was the shame. There were several reasons for that, I'm sure. Maybe it was because I was professing my faith yet felt powerless to step out of my bondage. Perhaps it was the hypocrisy of coaching women in fitness while hiding my secret struggle. Maybe it was simply the most strategic...

Our Maddie turned four this week, and we celebrated her with her current favorites; All things pink and princess! It was a small party with family and a few close friends; But of course even a small party had to be celebrated with the sweetest dessert table, because well, it's my love language! This birthday was the most fun so far because she actually understood that it was her party, as she squeezed with excitement, "this is the best birthday ever!"
Most of the decor was from Meri Meri,...

"I have the right to do anything," you say--but not everything is beneficial. "I have the right to do anything"--but not everything is constructive.- 1 Corinthians 10:23
As I was reading 1 Corinthians 10:23, the Lord used it to speak to my heart, specifically as it applies to "tools" in our journey to health. They may be helpful at times, but I believe they are only to be used temporarily, not long term, or for life. Do we really think that God made our bodies as intelligent as they are only...

There are products-a-plenty available in the market. Today, though, I'm sharing a few of my favorite health-promoting, feel-good products, some you may not have heard of. Enjoy!
Dry Brushing
Dry brushing is an easy way to help your body feel amazing! It works by exfoliating dry skin, ideally before a shower or bath. Dry brushes have coarse, natural fiber bristles. The idea is that the coarse fibers help remove dead skin, promote relaxation, and improve the skin's ability to eliminate toxins....

Make the Thing the Thing
In our family, we make it a habit to remind each other to make the thing, the thing. If you've read articles from me over the years, chances are you've heard me refer to this before. If not, allow me to explain. Many times, what appears to upset us is merely a symptom and not the more profound hurt. As a family, we help each other peel back surface reactions to get to the actual "thing" that's upsetting us. The benefit of doing this is that we can speak out our...

"For the sinful nature has its desire which is opposed to the Spirit, and the [desire of the] Spirit opposes the sinful nature; for these [two, the sinful nature and the Spirit] are in direct opposition to each other [continually in conflict], so that you [as believers] do not [always] do whatever [good things] you want to do." Galatians 5:17
Carpe Diam! Seize the day! To each his own! Life is short, do what makes you happy!
Sound familiar? It should. These are the messages for which the world...

Happy Friday Friends! It's hard to believe we are rounding out yet another month! Where does the time go!?
The month of May was a busy one over here, as it was filled with lots of big events! For starters, we finished out Season 3 of the Dashing Dish cooking show! It was such a blessing to be able to work with the most amazing crew from Cornerstone Christian Television for a full 3 seasons now! We have grown over the seasons as a team, and the show has been a blast to work on, (hard work...

“For I do not understand my own actions [I am baffled, bewildered]. I do not practice or accomplish what I wish, but I do the very thing that I loathe [which my moral instinct condemns].” Romans 7:15 AMPC
I don’t know about you, but I can totally relate to the struggle Paul describes in Romans 7. Why do we keep doing what we don’t want to do? Why don’t we do what it is we really want to do? In the context of making daily decisions, the answer is often… Habits. It’s not always just a matter of...

“And when you come before God, don’t turn that into a theatrical production either. All these people are making a regular show out of their prayers, hoping for fifteen minutes of fame! Do you think God sits in a box seat? Here’s what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace. The world is full of so-called...
